II Timothy 3:16&17

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for
every good work.

Matthew 20:27&28

And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave, just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.

Romans 8:14

For those who are led by
the Spirit of God are
children of God.

Ephesians 2:8&9

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Salem Friends Church is an evangelical Quaker church, located in Salem, Iowa. The church was established as a meeting, in the Quaker tradition in 1838 as part of Indiana Yearly Meeting - and remained so until Iowa Yearly Meeting was formed. We are currently active participants in the Iowa Yearly Meeting of Friends.

We believe Jesus is the son of God, and the only way to reach heaven. Romans 10:9-10 says "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Salem Friends has a rich history in Southeast Iowa. Members of the meeting were integral in the establishment of the City of Salem (measuring and marking out the street layout with grapevine), Whitier College, White's Institute (operated as an orphanage), and the establishment of the Underground Railroad in the Salem area.
